DANA & LYNN CARRIER | OWNERS
Dana has been a bass player for over 50 years playing in a variety of bands from wedding bands, to country, but his love is Rock 'N Roll. He was a customer at Marathon Music since 1985. Then worked as the assistant manager for 4 years before buying the store in 2009. When your instrument "needs a tune-up or a doctor", Dana is the one to bring back it's song. If he can't do it, he knows who can!
Lynn is a certified Speech Pathologist with special training in voice disorders. She performs videostroboscopy for ENT of Fl. When she is not working behind the scenes of Marathon, or selling, you'll find her having fun with her two grandsons who are beginning musicians at Marathon.
Rodrick has an AA degree in music, although it only scratches the surface of his musical knowledge. He has been singing since age 5, and plays keyboard, guitar, bass, and drums. His performance experience exceeds half his life. Rod can teach you the features of all our keyboards and guitars but is knowledgeable in sound and home recording as well . He is always happy to help with his infectious smile. His first job was in retail music sales with Marathon in 2013. Rod loves watches!!! The way to his heart is not his stomach... it is a watch!
TRACY SHELLY | GUITAR, BASS, BEGINNING PIANO, MANDOLIN, UKELELE, VOICE AND IS FLUENT IN SPANISH
Tracy is a singer, song writer, musician, and instructor. She has an AA degree in music and vocal performing arts. She has been teaching guitar, ukulele, mandolin, bass, piano and voice at Marathon for 2 1/2 years. For many years she was a worship leader in a Christian church, and a missionary for 6 years in Peru teaching and playing music. She is fluent in Spanish. Tracy cut her own album in 2010. She is currently the lead singer for her band. When she is not in the water surfing or on her paddle board, you can find her playing in her band or a solo gig around town.
LOUISE HALLAM | PIANO TEACHER
My name is Louise Hallam. I am a graduate of the Peabody Institute in Baltimore, MD. I teach Piano-Keyboard lessons, Standard or Popular methods.
My course enables everyone to play music in a few lessons. My lessons are easy to understand and fun as well as rewarding and gratifying with the results it accomplishes.
Each student advances at their own pace.
You will be taught, how to make chords, find the key you are playing in a play songs that you like, along with your lessons, theory and performance.
No one is left behind and can feel free to contact me between lessons, if there is a problem.
LINDA KIESS | PIANO TEACHER
Linda is a classically trained pianist with more than twelve years’ experience teaching piano, organ and music theory to beginners, intermediate and advanced students. She’s worked with young children, teenagers, adults and seniors. Based on your interests, she will design a course to achieve your goals; whether you are a young person interested in pursuing music as a career or a senior who wants to learn to play just to entertain yourself.
When Linda isn’t teaching music, you can find her teaching Junior Achievement in elementary and middle schools, volunteering for the United Way of Palm Beach County, knitting and sewing for her many nieces and nephews or participating in the Writers’ Circle at the Kravis Center.
SUSAN PORR | WIND INSTRUMENT & PIANO TEACHER
Susan has been teaching young wind players for forty years both privately and through schools and music stores. She holds a Masters of Music Degree (Performance) from The Catholic University of America and both a Bachelors of Music Degree for Performance and for Education from George Mason University. She is a former member of The United States Army Band "Pershing’s Own" in Washington, DC, and more recently, was the Principal Clarinetist for the Newton Symphony Orchestra for 5 years. While living in Boston, she regularly performed with a number of local orchestras and opera companies including: The Mercury Orchestra, the Brookline Symphony, Harvard/Radcliffe Gilbert and Sullivan Players, MIT Gilbert and Sullivan Players, Boston Opera Collaborative, Metro West Opera, Lowell House Opera and various chamber music groups. She has even taught oversees, having taught music at the Ryuku Music Academy on the Island of Okinawa, Japan. She is currently teaching in several local music stores and performing with the Symphonic Band of the Palm Beaches.
ANNMARIE DeMATTIA | VIOLIN & VIOLA
Annmarie DeMattia has been a violinist since she was 12. Graduated FSU, where she was a member of the symphony. Throughout her performing career, she played in many local community orchestras and symphonies in the Dallas, Texas area as well as a private violin/viola studio, where many of her students acheived top scores in their competition. Old Time Music is a passion to Annmarie. Violin and fiddles are the same instruments; it is the style that creates the wonderful dance music. Currently, Annmarie is a educator in the PBSD, enjoys participating in several local music groups and continues to teach violin/viola at Marathon Music.
